Application Engineer

We are looking for a Deployment Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in application deployments and release management, primarily in Azure DevOps environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on skills in CI/CD pipeline setup and support, deployment automation, and basic administration knowledge of IIS and database deployment practices using SQL.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute end-to-end application deployments across development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
• Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (YAML/classic pipelines).
• Automate deployments and environment provisioning using PowerShell / scripting (as applicable).
• Coordinate release activities including deployment planning, approvals, rollback strategies, and post-deployment validation.
• Support application hosting deployments on Windows servers / IIS (basic troubleshooting and configuration support).
• Assist in SQL deployment activities (running scripts, supporting schema changes, deployment validation).
• Monitor deployments, identify issues, troubleshoot failures, and work with application/dev teams to resolve them quickly.
• Maintain deployment documentation: release notes, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure compliance with change management and best practices (logging, approvals, audit-ready documentation).

Must-Have Skills

• 5–8 years of experience in Deployment/Release Engineering or DevOps support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps:
  • Pipeline creation & troubleshooting
  • Releases and build deployments
  • Artifacts and versioning
• Deployment and environment support experience in Windows-based hosting setups.
• SQL knowledge (basic–intermediate):
  • Running deployment scripts, validating changes
  • Understanding of database objects (tables, procedures, views)
• IIS basic knowledge:
  • Application pool, website bindings, deployment setup
  • Basic troubleshooting (logs, site start/stop, recycle app pools)

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with PowerShell scripting for deployment automation.
• Exposure to Azure services (App Services, Azure VM, Storage, Key Vault, etc.).
• Knowledge of Git and branching strategies.
• Understanding of monitoring/logging tools (App Insights, ELK, Splunk, etc.).
• ITIL/change management process knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and coordination skills (work closely with Dev, QA, Infra, and Business teams).
• Ability to work in production support/release windows when required.
