The Role and Responsibilities

Carry out HVAC planned, preventative, and remedial maintenance on equipment including but not limited to the following:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, analyse, HVAC faults and implement repairs to all types of systems
• Be able to adjust, maintain and replace belts, drive pulleys, and alignment thereof
• Diagnose, repair, and replace all types of air conditioning refrigeration compressors, controls, and equipment
• Experienced in split air-conditioning installation, maintenance, and repair
• Experienced in hermetic and semi hermetic refrigeration compressors   
• Identify system refrigerant leaks and implement repairs
• Experienced in air distribution networks, plenums, ductwork, fittings, grilles, and diffusers and be able to perform air balancing and control modifications
• Experienced in all types of air handling units, filter banks, hot and cold coil packs, fans, volume control dampers and associated controls
• Cooling towers and evaporative cooled devices (Transformers)
• Dehumidification and humidification systems, control and biological inspection and control
• All types of HVAC fans including the ability to change bearings, alignment and trouble shooting
• HVAC closed cooling water circuits, chemical water treatment, controls, pumps, flow control valves, insulation, and strainers
• Maintain, repair all types of chillers (absorption, air cooled, and water cooled)
• Safe handling of refrigerants, identifying the correct storage and disposal in line with regulated standards
• Preparation of resources and work sites with reference to other coincident activities to ensure the effectiveness and safety of complex operation and maintenance work
• Minimisation of substance release to the environment and safe disposal of hazardous substances
• Compliance with relevant specifications and standards
• Selection of PPE appropriate to task
• Maintenance of accurate and up to date records
• Utilisation of a computerised planned and preventative maintenance system

The Requirements

• Fluent oral and written English
• Apprenticeship or significant equivalent experience
• Refrigerant handling safe working practices
• City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 trade qualification or equivalent
• Evidence of CMMS (SAP) training or equivalent
• Demonstrable evidence of use, understanding and interpretation of technical mechanical drawings, symbols, P&ID’s, and Isometrics. 
• HNC or equivalent Engineering higher education
• Extensive field experience in maintenance, operation and failure cause and analysis.
• Professional membership
• Proficient in Microsoft systems and packages.
• Permit to work systems and process understanding
