About Mecka AI

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI.

We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems.

We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.

The Role

We're hiring a Mechanical Camera & Sensor Calibration Engineer to own Mecka's entire calibration pipeline: camera intrinsics to IMU alignment to factory calibration infrastructure.

This is a hands-on, deeply practical role. You'll work directly with cameras, IMUs, and multi-sensor rigs to ensure our capture systems produce accurate, reliable data at scale.

Your immediate task: deliver production-quality calibration values. From there, you'll take full ownership of calibration pipeline process across Mecka's hardware fleet.

Responsibilities

Immediate Priorities

  • Deliver accurate IMU and Camera calibration values (intrinsic and extrinsic) for production systems

  • Assess and improve current calibration workflows

Ongoing

  • Own the entire calibration pipeline — camera intrinsics/extrinsics, IMU calibration, multi-sensor alignment

  • Ensure factory calibration is performed properly, consistently, and on schedule

  • Build and maintain calibration infrastructure — tooling, fixtures, validation scripts, and documentation

  • Develop automated calibration verification and quality assurance systems

  • Work with hardware and embedded teams to ensure sensor mounting and alignment meet calibration requirements

  • Debug and resolve calibration-related issues across deployed systems

Who You Are

Required Skills

  • Practical, hands-on experience with camera calibration (intrinsics, extrinsics, stereo, multi-camera rigs)

  • Practical experience with IMU calibration and tuning (bias estimation, alignment, noise characterization)

  • Understanding of sensor fusion fundamentals and how calibration quality affects downstream performance

  • Experience building calibration tooling and infrastructure for production environments

Strong Signals

  • Experience in a manufacturing or hardware deployment environment with calibration at scale

  • Familiarity with OpenCV, Kalibr, or similar calibration frameworks

  • Experience with multi-sensor calibration (camera-IMU, etc.)

  • Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or AR/VR hardware calibration

  • Experience with factory/production line calibration processes

  • Knowledge of uncertainty quantification and error analysis

You Are

  • Extremely detail-oriented and methodical

  • Comfortable working with physical hardware — not just software

  • Able to design repeatable, scalable calibration processes

  • A strong debugger who can trace data quality issues back to root causes

Why This Role

  • Own calibration end-to-end at a company building robotics data infrastructure

  • Direct impact on data quality that feeds into ML and perception systems

  • Work with cutting-edge multi-sensor capture hardware

  • High autonomy and ownership from day one
