Role Title: Textile Technician
Location: Austin, TX, On-site
Shift: 1st shift, Full-time
Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated Textile Technician to join our production team. The Textile Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of multiple yarn spinning machines. This hands-on technical role ensures continuous high-speed production of quality yarn while maintaining target specifications for yarn count, twist, efficiency, and overall machine performance.
This role serves as an excellent entry or developmental position in textile manufacturing, with clear advancement opportunities into production leadership, textile engineering, and manufacturing engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Monitor and operate multiple spinning machines, ensuring continuous high-speed production while maintaining target yarn quality, count, twist, and efficiency.
Respond promptly to machine signals to identify and resolve issues such as yarn breaks, empty sliver cans, reduced productivity positions, or quality deviations.
Perform piecing using integrated individual spinning position technology and piecing systems and support automatic doffing operations with DCU for full package changes.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and cleaning of spinning positions, including opening rollers, rotors, navels, yarn clearers, and trash extraction systems to minimize downtime and maintain performance.
Carry out machine settings and adjustments via the HMI/DCU touchscreen interface, including parameters for rotor speed, vacuum, twist, draft, multi-lot production, and yarn effects where applicable.
Perform quality control checks on produced yarn and take corrective actions such as component replacement or process optimization.
Preferred Skills & Experience
3+ years as a rotor spinning technician or operator, with at least 1–2 years hands-on with modern automated rotor spinning machines. Proven ability to manage multiple machines in a shift-based production environment. Equivalent experience, related skills, and/or relevant education may be considered satisfactory upon review.
Deep knowledge of rotor spinning process parameters. Proficient in operating the Informator and DCU touchscreen interface for settings, lot changes and monitoring. Skilled in piecing, automatic doffing with DCU, and quick response to yarn breaks or quality issues.
Routine preventive maintenance and cleaning of key components: opening rollers, rotors navels, yarn clearers, trash extraction, and spinning boxes. Basic troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, and sensor-related issues; ability to interpret LED visualization, symbol displays, colored bars, and machine signals. Strong understanding of yarn quality parameters (e.g., evenness, strength, appearance, foreign fiber detection) and corrective actions.
Excellent attention to detail, quick decision-making under pressure, teamwork with production/maintenance teams, and commitment to safety, housekeeping, and energy efficiency standards.
Nice-to-Haves
Basic electrical/electronic knowledge (sensors, motors, switches), ability to read simple schematics, and willingness to learn PLC and HMI interfaces or advanced diagnostics.
Mechanical aptitude combined with eagerness to embrace digital tools. Proven track record of learning new machine generations or process improvements.
Lean manufacturing basics and continuous improvement mindset.
