Role Title: Automation Engineer
Location: Austin, TX or Hybrid
Shift: 1st shift, Full-time
Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated Automation Engineer to join our operations team. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement automation systems for yarn spinning processes (e.g., ring, rotor, vortex spinning), including robotic piecing, auto-doffing, material handling, and enhanced inspection technologies. You will contribute to the development of high-performance, sustainable textile products while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Program, integrate, and optimize PLCs, robotics, sensors, and control systems for various types of yarn spinning machines, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Analyze process data, monitor automation performance, and implement improvements to maximize uptime, reduce defects, and support the development of high-performance, sustainable yarn products.
Troubleshoot, test, and commission automated spinning machinery, ensuring seamless integration and high equipment utilization.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to identify automation opportunities, reduce manual labor, and drive continuous improvement in productivity and safety.
Preferred Skills & Experience
5+ years of relevant experience working in an industrial automation discipline.
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or closely related field.
Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting. SCADA, HMI design, and real-time process control systems.
Commissioning, integration, and optimization of automated equipment.
Nice-to-Haves
Master’s degree and/or relevant certifications
3+ years of experience in yarn spinning, fiber processing, or textile machinery automation.
Direct experience with major yarn spinning OEM platforms: e.g., Rieter (ROBOspin), Saurer (Autocoro), Murata, or other equivalent automated spinning systems.
