Quant Interview Prep That Still Works in 2026
Brainteasers are out. Probabilistic reasoning and live coding are in. What to study and in what order.
By Jobr Team•Updated March 11, 2026
The classic 'how many golf balls in a 747' era of quant interviews is over. In 2026, top shops (Jane Street, Citadel, Two Sigma, HRT) test probabilistic reasoning under time pressure and live coding against market data.
A four-week study plan
- Week 1: Probability fundamentals — conditional, Bayesian, Markov.
- Week 2: Applied stats — estimators, variance, bootstrap.
- Week 3: Algorithmic coding under 20-minute limits.
- Week 4: Mixed mocks — alternating quant math and coding.
What not to over-study
Heavy measure theory and stochastic calculus are not tested in screens. Save them for the on-sites at shops that specifically do research tracks.
