About this role

Job Description

STARTING PAY: $19/hour

General Summary Of Duties:

Patrol, walk or stand in assigned area observing all activity, responding to calls as directed by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.  Perform proactive and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and/or property to maintain a safe and secure environment. 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Patrol
  • Ability at assigned station/area, stand and/or move on a continuous basis for up to 3 hours, to observe and identify potential security/safety risks, suspicious persons/activity, or undesirable conditions or hazards.  
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations (i.e., CPR, first aid, other medical emergencies, fire), undesired conduct and violations of property, policy and/or civil law as warranted for the safety/security of guests, employees and property. Ability to provide instructions and/or guidance for guest/employee safety.
  • Ability to remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy property activity, serving as a role model for other employees. 
  • Ability to investigate safety/security matters on behalf of guests and employees.  Document accurate and pertinent information for incident reports and logs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate via two-way radios and telephones to the dispatcher for directions/instructions and assistance, as well as supervisors and fellow officers.
  • Service:
  • Ability to provide "guest" satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within property/department guidelines.
  • Periodic Job Functions:
  • Attend and participate in shift meetings to receive instructions and information regarding internal property concerns.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions, to provide clear direction/guidance, and to communicate with others.
  • Ability to stand, move, and work throughout property, including walking (up to 5-7 miles), climbing stairs (10% of shift - tower positions to 35% of shift), and/or standing/sitting at work stations for the duration of the shift. 
  • Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions, and/or offering assistance, giving accurate information regarding plans, policies, or procedures within guidelines.
  • Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 40 lbs. on an intermittent basis, with repeated lifting, carrying and push/pull of 20 lbs..   And sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use handcuffs, emergency equipment, two-way radio, multi-line telephone and keys.
  • Knowledge of safety/security practices and procedures including:  C.P.R., emergency first aid, semi-automatic defibrillator and basic emergency fire equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to verify/balance reports and perform simple calculations.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Typical Working Condition:
  • Ability to perform duties within hot to normal to cold temperature ranges and unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be noisy and wet.
