Position Overview

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications to perform advanced patient imaging procedures. This role provides critical imaging data to physicians for diagnostic interpretation and ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, precision, and compassion to every patient interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals to detect or treat disease using a variety of imaging equipment
  • Document care in the patient’s medical record in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements
  • Perform preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, and quality control procedures on imaging equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards governing nuclear medicine
  • Manage supplies and equipment effectively, completing job responsibilities efficiently and productively
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families to explain procedures and ensure a positive care experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a formal education program in nuclear medicine technology
  • Preferred: Registration in Radiologic Technology

Licensure & Certification

  • Certification and Registration in one of the following:
    • R.T.(N)(ARRT), or
    • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
  • State license or Temporary Permit as required in the state of employment
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (required for all new hires and current associates)
  • Note: New graduates must obtain certification and registry within one year of graduation from an approved program

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine theories, principles, and safety procedures
  • Proficient in the handling and administration of radioactive materials
  • Ability to prepare complex written materials and clinical documentation
  • Competency in computerized data processing and Windows-based applications
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for patient and team interactions
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and organization
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and workflow effectively
