As a Mining Engineer, you will play a key role within the Capcoal Technical Services team, contributing across mine planning, design and operational execution. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role suits someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable supporting multiple operational areas.

You will contribute to front‑end daily planning and short‑term mine planning horizons (up to approximately three months), while also supporting longer‑term thinking as the site works toward growth and production uplift targets. The position offers exposure across dragline, drill & blast, truck and shovel, and broader production activities, making it ideal for a versatile engineer looking to develop well‑rounded open‑cut experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to daily and short‑term mine planning in collaboration with operations
  • Supporting mine design, scheduling and production activities across multiple fleets
  • Assisting with the development and refinement of mine plans to support execution
  • Providing technical input to improve productivity, safety and cost efficiency
  • Working closely with operations to ensure plans are practical and executable
  • Supporting the site’s future growth objectives and mine planning
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement

This role will be instrumental as the operation progresses through its next phase, including mine plan development and execution to support a planned increase in production.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of a couple of years’ experience in a mining engineering role
  • Dragline, truck and shovel, or drill and blast experience on large‑scale open‑cut operations (preferred)
  • Exposure to mine planning, design or operational engineering functions
  • Experience or familiarity with mining software used for planning, scheduling or design
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
  • A flexible, adaptable mindset and willingness to support multiple areas of the operation
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • A strong commitment to safe work practices and site standards
