What you’ll do

The specialist in plant engineering Assembly is responsible to planning of finish tools and rework equipment based on R&D product rework guidelines in production in the finish area to repair vehicle issues and to create technical solutions for production of the Scout Motors vehicle assembly. The Specialist will report to the Manager Plant Engineering Assembly.

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Evaluation technical problems and product requirements and developing technical solutions and preparing the implementation of planning concepts and projects including the corresponding design specifications or framework conditions for the assembly finish area. Ensuring defined measures and solid technical solutions and processes including analyzing and evaluating alternative solutions, considering economic standards.
  • Define KPI’s for production processes, equipment and methods across all rework work sequences in the plant engineering department and support these scopes into space plans, considering the requirements of all departments (and social partners).
  • Creation of production plans for all work and rework sequences according to the valid time finding procedures. Ensuring and controlling the defined measures and coordinating the activities of the technical contractors.
  • Creating, analyzing, writing and further development of technical specifications of production equipment and clarification of technical issues with technical contractors as well as suppliers of Assembly-Shop and finish rework equipment.
  • Supporting layouts, tracking time schedules and investment plans, following economic standards especially in terms of vehicle rework and finish area.
  • Preparation of technical solutions, analyzing and evaluation technical offers and driving RFQ and purchase orders process
  • Realization of pre-series and production ramp-up to series operation
  • Processing of planning orders, proposals, improvement and change requests including ongoing revision
  • Supporting related departments, R&D and operators with focus on the implementation of suggestions for the product design according to production requirements and the identification of optimization measures
  • Assumption of special tasks corresponding to the skills and duties of the job holder
  • This Role is carried out responsibly in factual cooperative collaboration with stakeholders like supervisors, employees, involved and affected departments - in compliance with existing guidelines, standards and regulations

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and/or plant engineering
  • Bachelor's/master’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field. An equivalent amount relevant work experience may considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Special skills in general assembly equipment, especially for finish tools and rework like:
    • Design and Development of tools according to the process and product requirements
    • Finish rework tool selection, evaluation and optimizing
    • Troubleshooting
    • Understanding of product requirements and aligning with tools and rework requirements
    • Collaboration with Production Teams and production stakeholders
    • Continuous Improvement
    • Project Management skills
  • Desirable skills
    • Knowledge about stakeholders and interfaces to the assembly area (like production, quality, industrial engineering, building, infrastructure, pilot hall, EHS department)
    • Knowledge in equipment planning processes starting from the concept up to the final handover to production
    • Ensure production processes
    • Process planning of rework process according to the product requirements
    • Product understanding and derivation of the effects on assembly processes, assembly equipment and ergonomics
    • Fundamental skills in office applications and presenting results to the team, the management or the board
    • Skills in web-based applications
    • Costumer orientated skills
    • P-FMEA skills
    • Poka Yoke
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00

Internal Leveling Code: IC9
