Job Description
Job Summary
The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe patient environment, and supporting the overall inpatient care team within Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Key Responsibilities
The PCA II rooms patients, obtains vital signs for pediatric patients infant to 21 years with orthopedic, reconstructive plastic and rehabilitation conditions dependent on location.
The PCA II gathers and documents patient’s clinical information as provided by patient/parent/legal guardian.
Performs procedures in accordance with state guidelines and regulations.
The Patient Care Assistant II is also the initial contact for all patients and families visiting the Outpatient Department.
Job Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
Nursing Assistant
1 year pediatric care
