A Senior Salesforce Data Engineer works across teams to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions on the Salesforce platform and connected enterprise systems. This role provides technical leadership for complex initiatives, drives sound architecture and data model decisions, and owns the solutions they build from design through operation. In addition to delivering high-quality migration, transformation, integration, and quality solutions, they proactively simplify data flows, reduce technical debt, improve platform health, strengthen observability, and elevate engineering practices across the team.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, and ongoing stewardship of advanced Salesforce data solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, performance, and integrity.
- Plan for complex initiatives spanning Salesforce and connected enterprise systems, translating business needs into resilient architectures, data flows, and implementation plans that balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
- Serve as a senior technical contributor for the Salesforce platform, solving ambiguous or high-impact data problems and making sound tradeoff decisions across data modeling, automation, integration, transformation, governance, and operational support.
- Lead delivery and support integrations between Salesforce and external systems, including third-party applications and enterprise data platforms, with attention to performance, failure handling, reconciliation, observability, and supportability.
- Build and maintain synchronous and asynchronous data migration, transformation, enrichment, and validation processes that support business-critical Salesforce capabilities.
- Drive platform modernization by identifying technical debt, recommending architectural improvements, strengthening data quality controls, and proposing Salesforce platform enhancements where they create clear value.
- Partner closely with product, business stakeholders, engineers, analysts, QA, data warehouse and data quality teams to shape solution direction, proactively surface risks and dependencies, and ensure successful delivery of complex data initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation that explains data models, system relationships, data flows, dependencies, operational considerations, and support procedures.
- Mentor other engineers and administrators through technical guidance, design reviews, code and automation reviews, and knowledge sharing, helping raise engineering quality and consistency across the team.
What You'll Bring
- 6+ years of experience in enterprise data engineering, Salesforce engineering, system administration, or a closely related field, contributing to technical design, delivery planning, release readiness, quality gates, documentation, and engineering best practices within Agile or similar software delivery models.
- Deep expertise in Salesforce data modeling, SQL, SOQL, security, automation, platform design patterns, and data lifecycle considerations, with the ability to choose scalable solutions for complex business problems.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture and enterprise systems design, including integration strategies, data movement, data transformation, data quality, and secure cross-system interoperability.
- Experience designing and supporting data integrations, migrations, transformations, reconciliations, and operational monitoring across Salesforce and connected enterprise platforms.
- Deep experience working with enterprise-grade ETL tooling, such as dbAmp or similar tools.
- Demonstrated strength in problem solving, debugging, performance optimization, root cause analysis, and incident support for high-impact data or platform issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and partner effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or one architect certification required; additional architect, data, integration, and advanced platform certifications strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
What you'll get
