Job Summary
36 hours, day/night rotationJoin Ellison 8, a specialized 36-bed Cardiac Surgical Stepdown Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, and make a meaningful impact on patients recovering from life-changing cardiac procedures. This fast-paced, highly collaborative unit cares for adult patients with complex heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, and congenital heart disease. As an experienced Registered Nurse on Ellison 8, you will provide exceptional care to patients following advanced cardiac surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacement, heart transplantation, and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) implantation. In addition to developing advanced cardiac nursing skills, you will play a critical role in patient and family education, empowering patients to improve heart health through cardiac risk factor modification and lifelong disease management. Summary
Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- BSN strongly preferred
- Must have at least one year of nursing experience
- Telemetry experience is preferred
Education
- Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

- Registered Nurse MA RN license required
Experience
- Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
