Director, Senior Employment Counsel (Global)

Scopely is hiring a dynamic and experienced Director, Senior Employment Counsel (Global) to support employment-related legal and compliance matters in a global jurisdictional capacity. You will work out of our Barcelona hub on a hybrid basis. This is a strategic and tactical role responsible for partnering with internal stakeholders—including People Team, Legal, and executive leadership—to ensure compliance with employment laws, mitigate risk, and support the business in all aspects of employment including advising on employee issues and drafting offer documentation across a complex and diverse regional landscape.
What you will do:
- Provide expert counsel on employment law matters across multiple regions. Particular familiarity in Europe, Middle East & Asia including Spain, India, UK, Ireland, Israel, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey and Germany is required. Support for other regions within the portfolio may also be required.
- Serve as a trusted partner to the People Team and business leaders, guiding decision-making on employee relations, risk mitigation, and complex workplace issues.
- Support the Talent and Compensation teams in creation of employment documentation.
- Support employment litigation and dispute resolution in the regions supported, managing outside counsel as needed.
- Provide timely, practical, and business-focused legal guidance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop and update region-specific policies, handbooks, contracts, and procedures.
- Advise on strategic workforce planning, organizational design, restructuring, and M&A activity.
- Advise on works councils, unions and CBAs across the regions.
- Monitor and communicate regional legal developments and proactively adjust policies and practices to remain compliant.
What we are looking for:
- Law degree with admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction
- In-office presence required 2-3 days per week in Barcelona, Spain. Relocation available
- Minimum 14 years of progressive experience in global employment law
- Proven success advising on complex, cross-border employment issues in a global, matrixed environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability and a deep understanding of risk management
- Excellent negotiation skills and resilience in partnering with the business
- Fluency in English required; professional proficiency in Spanish required, fluency preferred. Additional languages are a plus
- Prior in-house and M&A experience preferred
- Experience in the technology and/or games industry is a plus
