Job Description
About the role
As the Design Governance Lead, you will establish and safeguard Takeda's global design governance framework, ensuring that critical engineering and CAPEX decisions are made through a consistent, transparent, and evidence-based process. You will act as the guardian of design decision quality, driving robust governance from early investment through Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) while enabling innovation, reducing risk, and supporting successful project delivery across Takeda's global engineering portfolio.
How you contribute
Develop, implement, and continuously improve Takeda's global Design Assurance & Review (DAR) framework for early investment and FEED decision-making.
Establish governance standards for design decisions, including evidence requirements, documentation, approval criteria, and decision traceability.
Ensure consistent application of design governance across global projects, regions, and delivery models, including internal and external engineering partners.
Safeguard the quality of early investment decisions by ensuring robust option evaluation, transparent risk assessment, and documented assumptions.
Own governance of design decision records, assumptions, deviations, and decision logs to ensure full auditability throughout the project lifecycle.
Protect approved design baselines by managing formal deviation processes and preventing undocumented scope or design changes.
Partner with Design Delivery, Finance, Quality, Project Sponsors, and external engineering organizations to ensure alignment between governance, investment decisions, and project execution.
Drive continuous improvement of design governance practices while promoting knowledge sharing and engineering excellence across the global organization.
What you bring to Takeda
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Industrial or related discipline); Master's or PhD preferred.
Significant experience leading engineering, FEED, design assurance, or engineering governance activities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or highly regulated industries.
Strong understanding of CAPEX project development, engineering governance, and investment decision-making processes.
Experience working across global organizations and collaborating with diverse, cross-functional, and geographically distributed teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to simplify complex technical challenges for senior stakeholders.
Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and uphold governance standards.
Demonstrated leadership in driving organizational change, fostering collaboration, developing people, and building engagement across multidisciplinary teams.
High integrity, sound judgment, resilience, and a continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for innovation and engineering excellence.
