Job Description
We are looking for Nurse with proven experience in Ebola response to join our project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). If you possess the clinical expertise, resilience, and passion for working in challenging overseas environments as part of a highly specialized, multi-disciplined team, this could be the job for you.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Provide safe, high-quality clinical care on a 24/7 basis within the medical facility.
- Ebola/VHF Protocols: Strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, isolation procedures, and the clinical management of suspected or confirmed Ebola cases.
- Perform continuous patient assessments, recognizing and responding promptly to clinical deterioration.
- Clinical Escalation: Immediately escalate serious, highly contagious, or complex cases requiring parenteral treatment to the Physician.
- Stock & Pharmacy Management: Maintain rigorous inventory control of pharmacy and consumable stock, ensuring minimum/maximum levels are met, and the controlled drug register is kept strictly up to date.
- Responsible for careful assessment and monitoring of patient vital signs watching for sudden or subtle changes in the medical condition that might require emergency intervention.
- Ensuring that ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properly.
- Monitoring and administering medication and intravenous infusion
- Responsible for the maintenance of the medical equipment in the Intensive Care Unit
- Managing the stock within the Intensive Care Unit including resupply requests
Qualifications
- Academic Nurse qualification with current registration/license to practice
- At least 3 years working experience in critical care field
- Specialized Experience: Essential on-the-ground experience in Ebola response, ICU and HDU care.
- Languages: Professional fluency in English is required; proficiency or fluency in French is highly desirable.
