Job Description
As a member of a team providing services to our client, you will have the following responsibility:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance processing algorithms for hyperspectral infrared sounding instruments.
- Process, analyze, and assess large volumes of satellite observation data from operational missions.
- Support the generation and quality control of Level 1 and Level 2 products.
- Investigate data anomalies and contribute to the resolution of instrument and processing issues.
- Perform scientific analysis of radiometric and spectral measurements to ensure product quality and mission performance.
- Support calibration, characterization, and validation activities for hyperspectral sounders.
- Monitor radiometric, spectral, and geometric performance throughout the mission lifecycle.
- Evaluate calibration products and assess their impact on downstream geophysical retrievals.
- Contribute to instrument performance assessments and long-term monitoring activities.
- Support the verification and validation of new processing baselines and calibration methodologies.
- Support operational processing systems and the evolution of ground segment capabilities.
- Participate in system integration, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, user guidance, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, satellite operators, scientists, and external partners.
- Provide technical expertise for mission preparation, product evolution, and future hyperspectral instrumentation developments.
Qualifications
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- University degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, astrophysics, meteorology or remote sensing or equivalent;
- Experience in infrared instruments data processing (preferably high resolution, Hyperspectral sounders, like IASI);
- Developing and testing complex scientific software, handling and processing big amounts of data;
- Experience in numerical algorithms and satellite data analysis;
- Familiar with calibration processes (hyper-spectral sounders);
- Experience with object-oriented techniques and software tools for version control;
- UNIX/Linux operating systems knowledge with use of shell/python scripts;
- Experience with the following programming languages C++, Python, IDL;
- Interferometry knowledge would be an advantage;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
