The Opportunity
Are you ready to drive operational excellence and lead end-to-end purchasing efficiencies that support our global diagnostic innovations? As our Senior Procurement Specialist in Mumbai, India, you will be responsible for the execution of critical purchasing support activities. In this role, you will bring functional leadership to the operational and tactical procurement space, owning outcomes, delivering high stakeholder satisfaction, and ensuring seamless purchase-to-pay (P2P) operations.
Reporting Line: The position directly reports to Procurement Operations Lead and is part of the wider Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE).
Wider team and stakeholders: Works closely with business partners and internal stakeholders in DOP across a multicultural, virtual setting, while guiding and mentoring junior Procurement Specialists.
Role Type: A tactical position focused on executing critical operational activities, mitigating issues, and driving process optimization.
Impact: You ensure stakeholder expectations are satisfied by efficiently supporting the end-to-end procurement process. Specifically, you are accountable for:
Operational Execution: Leading the operational and tactical activities for the effective and timely procurement of products and services in a compliant manner.
Data & System Management: Maintaining material master data and supplier master data, executing workflows effectively, and ensuring accurate documentation within SAP.
Mentorship & Issue Resolution: Guiding junior procurement specialists and business partners to mitigate procurement issues and achieve agreed business goals.
Policy & Compliance: Executing activities in line with a responsible Procurement approach, utilizing tools, policy settings, and enforcement aligned with DOP business processes.
Performance Metrics: Owning the achievement of established customer service metrics and performance targets.
Continuous Improvement: Identifying new opportunities and supporting the optimization of processes to increase overall quality and efficiency standards.
Internal Consulting: Working closely with the broader organization to act as a consultant on operational procurement and related system topics.
Who you are
We look for self-driven professionals with a continuous improvement mindset who can navigate complex enterprise systems and foster collaborative networks.
Education: A relevant university business degree is required; SAP MM certifications are good to have.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in operational/tactical Procurement processes. Experience working in a multicultural, virtual setting is required, and prior experience with planning and buying activities is required. Direct procurement experience is highly desirable.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability or potential to lead, even informally, small to mid-size teams. Prior leadership experience driving results in a specific area of responsibility is advantageous.
AI & Digitalization: You have a strong affinity to explore AI-driven solutions broadly, particularly regarding the digital transformation of operations (Digital 2.0 / Industry 4.0).
Systems Expertise: In-depth experience with enterprise systems (preferably SAP MM) and procure-to-pay tools. You possess a strong understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing and contracting.
Industry Knowledge: Life science industry experience is highly desirable.
Mindset & Soft Skills: A system and process-thinking professional with the ability to develop innovative ideas. You possess strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to develop networks and influence stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
Languages: Strong Business English language capability is required; competence or fluency in other foreign languages (specifically German) is strongly desired.
