Job Description
The Business Architect serves as the strategic link between business vision and enterprise execution. This role is responsible for developing, governing, and continuously enhancing the organization's business architecture to ensure alignment between strategy, capabilities, processes, products, and transformation initiatives.
Leveraging industry-leading frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF, BPMN 2.0, BAGuild, eTOM, APQC, and ABPMP, the Business Architect enables business transformation by defining current and future-state architectures, identifying capability gaps, and ensuring that enterprise investments deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities
Business Architecture Development
- Develop and maintain baseline and target-state business architectures aligned with corporate objectives and digital transformation strategies.
- Document and analyze business capabilities, value streams, business processes, information models, organizational structures, and operating models.
- Design future-state business models that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and business performance.
Gap Analysis & Transformation Planning
- Conduct structured gap assessments between current and target business architectures.
- Identify opportunities for capability enhancement, process optimization, operating model redesign, and business transformation.
- Define recommendations and initiatives to bridge identified gaps.
Enterprise Architecture Governance
- Establish and maintain business architecture principles, standards, methodologies, and governance practices.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture frameworks, business process standards, and modeling conventions.
- Participate in architecture review boards and governance committees.
Business Process & Capability Management
- Develop and maintain enterprise capability maps, value stream maps, process architectures, and business operating models.
- Apply BPMN 2.0, eTOM, APQC, and industry best practices to drive process standardization and optimization.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across business functions.
Strategic Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, project managers, and transformation teams to align initiatives with enterprise strategy.
- Promote the value of business architecture and architecture-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Facilitate workshops and strategic discussions to define business requirements and transformation priorities.
Impact Assessment & Analysis
- Conduct impact analyses related to strategic, regulatory, technological, and organizational changes.
- Assess impacts on business capabilities, operating costs, risk exposure, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations to support informed investment and transformation decisions.
Enterprise Demand Management
- Capture emerging business needs and translate them into architectural requirements.
- Evaluate solution feasibility, strategic alignment, and business value before investment approval.
- Support business case development and prioritization activities.
Roadmap Development & Transformation Support
- Contribute to enterprise architecture roadmaps and transformation plans.
- Define implementation sequencing, dependencies, milestones, and success metrics.
- Support change management and organizational adoption efforts.
Coaching & Organizational Maturity
- Mentor stakeholders on business architecture, business process management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Support organizational maturity initiatives aligned with BAGuild, ABPMP BPM CBOK, and industry best practices.
- Promote a culture of process excellence and architecture governance.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Strategy Consulting, Business Transformation, or Management Consulting.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Experience with Business Process Management (BPM) methodologies and BPMN 2.0.
- Knowledge of industry frameworks such as eTOM, APQC, BAGuild, and ABPMP BPM CBOK.
- Experience developing capability maps, value streams, business process architectures, and operating models.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience working in large-scale transformation and digital initiatives.
Preferred Certifications
- TOGAF Certification
- Certified Business Architect (CBA)
- ABPMP CBPP Certification
- BPMN Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Business Analysis Certifications (CBAP, PMI-PBA) are advantageous
