Job Description
The role of Escrow Accounts Reconciliation Officer is responsible for the daily reconciliation of all Escrow Accounts used to collect the Single Window Network Charge (Taxa de Rede – JUE). The incumbent downloads network charge transaction reports from the Business Intelligence (BI) system and reconciles them against bank statements from all banks participating in the collection of the network charge.
Responsabilities
- Download and review Network Charge (Taxa de Rede – JUE) transaction reports from the Business Intelligence (BI) system on a daily basis.
- Reconcile all Escrow Accounts used to collect the Single Window Network Charge against bank statements from all participating banks.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are accurately matched, captured and recorded.
- Investigate and resolve all reconciling differences promptly, escalating unresolved items to the Reporting & Business Assurance Supervisor and Chief Accountant as appropriate.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding and uncleared items on the Escrow Account reconciliations to ensure timely closure.
- Liaise with participating banks, the reporting team, the Chief Accountant and the Finance Manager on any discrepancies, findings and reconciliation outcomes.
- Support the generation and issuance of Single Window invoices in line with the applicable processes and timelines.
- Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date records of all Escrow Account transactions, including invoices, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Ensure proper filing and labelling of all bank and reconciliation documentation, both physical and electronic.
- Ensure timely compliance with all applicable tax obligations, including preparation and submission of relevant tax returns.
- Prepare regular reconciliation status reports and ad hoc reports as required by management.
- Maintain an always up-to-date list of authorised bank signatories for all Escrow Accounts; process additions and removals as required in a timely manner.
- Provide all necessary documentation to the participating banks to ensure Escrow Accounts remain current and fully compliant with Banco de Moçambique (Central Bank) requirements.
- Review, investigate and, where applicable, process refunds arising from duplicated payments, cancelled declarations or any other circumstance requiring a reimbursement to the payer.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, Group policies, and applicable accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes as required.
- Carry out any other duties as instructed by management that may be deemed appropriate and within capabilities.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by direct line manager, including asset management.
Qualifications
Education
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, bank reconciliation or a similar finance role.
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume bank or account reconciliations, preferably in a multi-bank environment.
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools and the ability to download and interpret transaction reports.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Understanding of Mozambican tax legislation and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- ISO and Quality Management System awareness.
- To be familiar with SGS company procedures.
