Role Summary

Join our team as Director of Rooms at Etereo Riviera Maya and become one of the authors of our story. As part of the Auberge family, you will be responsible for effectively and successfully managing all the day-to-day operations of the Rooms Division of the hotel.  Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for the key areas that contribute to operating performance - building and inspiring our teams, maintaining high product quality, delivering excellence through service quality, and curation of the guest experience.  You will encourage attention to detail and an eye for luxury at all levels.  As part of the Auberge family, you will support all team members of Etéreo and our guests in providing exceptional experiences along their Auberge journey. Ensuring that all collaborators are delighted by the quality of service, creativity, and for establishing our name in the Riviera Maya, Cancun and Tulúm marketplace. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Rooms Division, ensuring seamless execution across all guest-facing areas.
  • Maintain a strong presence throughout the property, leading from the operation and serving as the operational partner to the General Manager.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to deliver a cohesive guest experience.

Guest Experience

  • Champion exceptional, personalized guest experiences through visible leadership and operational excellence.
  • Lead service recovery and drive continuous improvement through guest feedback and operational insights.
  • Ensure Auberge and property standards are consistently executed.

Team Leadership

  • Build, coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Identify and develop future leaders within the division.

Operational Excellence

  • Protect the integrity of the hotel’s product through regular inspection and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and safety requirements.

Business Performance

  • Drive financial performance through effective labor management, productivity and expense control.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement action plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Partner with Commercial, Revenue Management and Finance to optimize results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive hotel operations experience
  • Full comprehension on operational issues and Forbes Standards and other ultra luxury standards
  • Experience dealing with all levels including owners, corporate officers, support staff and all hotel employees
  • Excellent overall communication skills
  • The ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience leading teams
  • Working knowledge of hospitality departments: Housekeeping, Guest Services, Engineering, Laundry, Residential Services.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to department needs
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including in front of a group, with ability to communicate detailed instructions and hold the team accountable for results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret various reports (payroll, financial)
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Local, Mexico area, US or European experience preferred.
  • Luxury hotel experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, Hospitality or Business Administration preferred or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated success in building brands and delivering results (ideally smaller independent brand)
