Job Description

Role Purpose

The Catalog Master Data Expert is responsible for driving advanced master data design, governance, and optimization across assigned domains limited to daily oprational requests. The role ensures high-quality taxonomy structures, coded value standardization, and product data enhancements while acting as a subject matter expert. This position plays a key role in improving data quality, enabling scalable taxonomy solutions, and supporting business-critical catalog initiatives through independent research, solution design, and stakeholder collaboration.

Job Responsibilities & Scope

  • Work independently to prioritize, structure, and resolve master data tasks across assigned categories.
  • Design, implement, and optimize product categories, templates, coded value frameworks.
  • Perform in-depth research to develop new taxonomy models, industries, and category templates on need basis.
  • Drive master data enhancements including product descriptions, and localization rules.
  • Design and implement cross-sell and up-sell logic to improve product relationships and customer experience on need basis.
  • Design & implement optimization and simplification initiatives for existing categories/templates through correlation & validation rules.
  • Ensure standardization and quality of coded value repositories across categories.
  • Work closely and collaborate with content, taxonomy design, and mapping teams to ensure consistent and high-quality output.
  • Provide expert-level support and guidance to team members, acting as a knowledge resource.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tools, and data quality frameworks.
  • Participate in documentation, knowledge sharing, and best practice development.

Qualifications

Competencies Needed

  • Strong ability to independently manage complex tasks and prioritize work effectively
  • Expert-level understanding of taxonomy management, master data operations, and data governance
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Deep knowledge of category structures, taxonomy standards, and product data models.
  • Understanding of major marketplace taxonomies and international classification standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to explain processes and train or mentor team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on data quality and consistency.
  • Client-centric approach with the ability to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Good practical knowledge of Groovy programming to design and implement correlation & validation rules.
  • Good practical knowledge of AI/Automation tools.

Prior Experience Needed

  • At least 4 years' experience as Senior Catalog Master Data Specialist, Senior Product Group Expert, Senior Catalog Import Specialist, or Senior Brand Management Specialist OR Equivalent experience in catalog management, taxonomy, or master data operations within a similar domain.
  • Proven experience in product data enhancement initiatives preferably through AI/Automation tools & techniques will be a plus.
  • Exposure to e-commerce data structures, catalog systems, and large-scale data environments preferred.
