Job Description
We're looking for a Business Analyst with strong experience delivering software solutions in agile software delivery environments, ideally within the financial services industry. Note that this role will be a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Analysis teams identify client needs, analyse processes, and propose solutions to align with strategic goals. While fostering efficiency and ensuring organisational success through systematic approaches, they also mediate between clients and engineering teams to ensure project clarity.
As a Business Analyst, you'll be responsible for ensuring the viability of our client's digital solutions. You will bring a strong understanding of agile delivery practices and financial services domains, helping clients shape clear, practical and commercially sound solutions that respond to business, operational, regulatory and customer needs.
Due to an urgent opening, we are seeking to hire a candidate who is available at one week's notice.
Responsibilities
- Building strong relationships with client stakeholders by developing a deep understanding of their business domain and providing thoughtful, consultative support
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements
- Applying financial services domain knowledge to understand client needs, business processes, regulatory considerations and operational impacts
- Translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements that enable engineering teams to deliver effective software solutions
- Translating product vision and epics into user stories and acceptance criteria, and maintaining an up-to-date product backlog
- Working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure user stories are delivered in line with the product vision, agreed priorities and delivery timelines
- Understanding the business rationale behind each requirement and helping align delivery with strategic objectives and specific feature outcomes
- Supporting agile ceremonies and delivery planning activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, showcases and retrospectives
- Offering actionable insights and solution recommendations grounded in client needs, organisational context and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, with demonstrated experience delivering software solutions in agile software delivery environments
- Demonstrated experience working within the financial services industry is essential
- Experience in superannuation, retirement products, wealth management, banking, insurance or adjacent financial services domains is highly desirable
- Proven ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable solution requirements, expressed in a way that enables engineering teams to deliver effectively against the product vision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate requirements, decisions and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Solid understanding of software development planning techniques, particularly within Agile Scrum environments
- Familiarity with standard business analysis practices, tools and deliverables, including process modelling, requirements documentation, stakeholder mapping, user stories, acceptance criteria and backlog management
- Strong analytical mindset with a structured, self-directed approach to problem-solving
- Experience working collaboratively with product, design, engineering, testing and delivery teams to support successful software delivery outcomes
