Find out how a career at Michels Pacific Energy, Inc. can change yours.The Project Controls Specialist works closely with Project Managers to ensure efficient and effective budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination processes. Critical for success are strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and written and oral communication skills. The abilities to work independently and consistently meet deadlines are a must.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to identify project needs and develop solutions by implementing processes and/or software to support project execution. Support project teams with the development of GIS systems. Travel to offices for meetings with project teams
  • Assist with job budget setups; monitor, report on, analyze, and audit project financials. Report progress to project team to ensure deadlines and budget limitations are adhered to.
  • Challenge standard methods, identify best practices, evaluate what needs to be changed, and make recommendations for standardized solutions to management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost control processing, procedures, systems, and tools to support project execution
  • Own and maintain the company’s SharePoint site, software and/or tools for estimating and project management.
  • Work with end users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs to deliver expected results. Travel to offices for meetings with end users.
  • Collaborate with project team regarding any potential baseline inconsistencies on schedule and cost, trends, and cash flow.
  • Work with invoicing specialists to ensure proper allocation of all POs and invoices against projects and identify ways to streamline the invoicing process.
  • Collaborate with IT department to ensure company programs are functioning correctly, identify any issues, and work to improve systems functionality to support operational objectives.
  • Develop customer deliverables and presentation materials for proposals and business development.
  • Train project teams in company programs and processes. Document processes via Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain training progress roster for company personnel. Travel to offices to conduct in-person training.
  • Assist teams to develop and maintain project schedule according to company and customer standards, utilizing drawings and specifications and input from project team. Audit the schedule to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with project management team(s) to verify short- and long-term schedules. Assist in planning and scheduling equipment needs to fit relevant operations.

What it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related degree; and 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination
  • General knowledge of accounting and business operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to use data to drive process improvement
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team

This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on individual’s skills, experiences, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
