Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Hotel Accountant to join our finance team supporting ibis Sydney Barangaroo and Novotel Newcastle Beach.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in supporting the hotels’ financial operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure across two properties while contributing to the overall financial performance and compliance of the hotels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process monthly financial reports and month-end closing activities
  • Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant awards and legislative requirements
  • Oversee accounts payable and cashiering functions
  • Assist with Profit & Loss reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies and company procedures
  • Process accounts receivable transactions and monitor outstanding invoices
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to support management decision-making
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation and schedules

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Currently working towards, or interested in pursuing, CPA or CA qualification
  • Previous experience in hotel accounting, payroll, or finance roles
  • Sound understanding of superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and relevant legislative requirements
  • Experience with Zambion payroll system will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of SunSystems, Opera Cloud PMS, and Q&A reporting tools is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Full working rights in Australia
