About the Program

K Street Capital’s Venture Fellow Program is a rotational opportunity designed for aspiring venture capital professionals looking to gain hands-on experience across the venture investment lifecycle. Fellows rotate through three core functional areas including Investment & Due Diligence, Marketing & Investor Relations, and Investor Operations to develop a well-rounded understanding of how a modern venture capital firm operates.

This program is ideal for highly motivated individuals who are intellectually curious, analytical, organized, and excited to work directly with founders, investors, and the broader startup ecosystem.

What You'll Do

Rotation 1: Investment Analysis & Portfolio Strategy

Gain hands-on experience evaluating venture-backed companies and supporting investment decisions by:

  • Conducting financial analysis, valuation, and investment modeling
  • Performing market, industry, and competitive research
  • Evaluating business models, growth metrics, and unit economics
  • Assisting with investment memos and deal materials
  • Monitoring portfolio company performance and key financial metrics
  • Supporting portfolio reporting, forecasting, and strategic analysis
  • Researching venture market trends and emerging technologies
  • Participating in founder meetings, diligence sessions, and investment discussions

Rotation 2: Marketing & Investor Relations

Help strengthen K Street Capital's brand and investor communications by:

  • Assisting with investor presentations and marketing materials
  • Supporting investor communications and relationship management
  • Supporting thought leadership initiatives and market research
  • Tracking marketing analytics and campaign performance
  • Assisting with sponsorship outreach, partner communications, and sponsor activation
  • Coordinating event logistics, vendor management, and attendee experience
  • Creating content for LinkedIn, newsletters, podcasts, and website updates

Rotation 3: Investment Operations

Gain exposure to the operational side of venture investing by:

  • Supporting syndicate, fund, and fund of funds operations
  • Assisting with investor onboarding and communications
  • Maintaining CRM and investment data systems
  • Helping coordinate fundraising, closings, and reporting processes
  • Improving workflows through automation and process documentation

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for startups, technology, and venture capital
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in finance, business, economics, marketing, engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with startups, venture capital, or entrepreneurship
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Airtable, CRM systems, or data analysis tools is a plus

Program Details

  • Duration: 12-month rotational fellowship
  • Commitment:Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility around academic schedules. Additional hours may be required during major events or time-sensitive projects.
  • Compensation: This is an unpaid fellowship designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development in venture capital.
  • Location: Preference will be given to candidates located in the Washington, DC, second preference to Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) to facilitate participation in in-person meetings, investor events, and networking opportunities. Remote candidates may also be considered, especially if interested in traveling or relocating.
