Safety Worxs is seeking multiple experienced Night Shift Construction Safety Professionals to support a major heavy civil infrastructure project in Norfolk, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term project where you'll play a critical role in maintaining a strong safety culture, supporting field operations, and ensuring compliance in a fast-paced construction environment. Must have bridge and roadway experience.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met.
- Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment.
- Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards.
- Assisting in the investigation of accidents and determining root causes and recommend corrective /preventive measures.
- Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
- Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs.
- Outside role, working Night Shift.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably supporting heavy civil, infrastructure, tunnel, or transportation projects
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field or a nationally recognized safety certification such as CHST, OHST, STS, STSC, or another credential recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or an equivalent nationally accredited organization
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and industry best practices
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership with a highly visible field presence
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams
- Ability to work night shift and overtime as project demands require
