Steel Yard Equipment Operator
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $22.00/hour (Higher pay available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are looking for a dependable Steel Yard Equipment Operator to support daily operations in both the shop and outdoor yard. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of responsibilities and can easily adapt to changing priorities throughout the day.
The selected candidate will assist with handling structural steel, operating heavy material handling equipment, preparing materials for production and shipping, and helping maintain an organized and safe work environment.
### Primary Responsibilities
Move, organize, and stage structural steel throughout the shop and yard.
Safely operate an overhead crane to lift and transport materials.
Operate forklifts, Pettibone/telehandler equipment, and other material handling machinery.
Position and move trailers within the yard as needed.
Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
Prepare and skid materials for storage or shipment.
Operate production equipment as assigned to support manufacturing activities.
Clean parts and materials to prepare them for the next stage of production.
Assist with inventory control by organizing and tracking materials and supplies.
Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment and working around heavy materials.
Support different departments as workload and production demands change.
Maintain a reliable attendance record and contribute to a productive team environment.
### Qualifications
Experience operating an overhead crane.
Experience operating Pettibone or telehandler equipment.
Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
Familiarity with handling structural steel materials.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered equipment.
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Capable of managing multiple tasks and adjusting to changing priorities.
Able to work independently while also contributing to a team.
Manufacturing or industrial experience is considered an advantage.
Willingness to learn new equipment and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
