Job Title: Software V&V Engineer – Surveillance
Position Summary: As a Software V&V Engineer, you will execute hands-on software verification and validation activities in compliance with DO-178C objectives for safety-critical avionics surveillance systems. Acron Aviation is seeking detail-oriented, technically rigorous V&V engineers who can execute and document software verification activities and contribute to airworthiness certification on our TCAS, Transponder, and Integrated Surveillance Platform programs. The applicant will work as a key individual contributor within the Software V&V team, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Software Development, and Program Management to ensure verification coverage, requirements traceability, and compliance with applicable DO-178C DAL B and C requirements.
As an individual contributor, the Software V&V Engineer is responsible for hands-on execution and documentation of software verification activities within assigned programs, ensuring DO-178C compliance and collaborating with Software Development Leads and Project Leads on test integration, schedule, and certification readiness.
### Key Responsibilities
Accountable for DO-178C software verification and validation activities for Surveillance development projects, including test planning, procedure development, execution, and results documentation; coordinates with US based Acron software engineers as requiredPartner with Software Development Leads, Systems Engineering, and Project Leads to define verification strategies, manage test dependencies, and meet program verification milestonesPlan, develop, and execute Software Verification Cases and Procedures (SVCPs) in accordance with DO-178C DAL-appropriate objectives, ensuring requirements-based test coverage and traceability to software requirementsTrack and communicate software verification status, open Problem Reports (PRs), and structural coverage metrics (e.g., decision, statement coverage) to project stakeholdersAuthor and peer-review Software Verification Results (SVRs), Problem Report dispositions, test reports, and associated DO-178C lifecycle data artifactsPerform structural coverage analysis and requirements-based test traceability to satisfy DAL-appropriate DO-178C objectives; identify, document, and disposition coverage gaps through additional tests or analysesSupport DER/ACO coordination activities and contribute to Software Accomplishment Summary (SAS), Software Configuration Index (SCI), and other certification artifacts required for FAA/EASA approval
### Required Qualifications
BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields required4+ years of hands-on experience executing DO-178B/C software verification activities in a safety-critical avionics or aerospace environmentDemonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and executing requirements-based software test cases and proceduresPractical knowledge of DO-178C software verification objectives, software plans, and lifecycle data (e.g., SVCP, SVR, SAS, SCI)Direct experience with DO-178B/C software verification activities is REQUIRED (not solely development experience)Experience developing with C programming language is requiredKnowledge of engineering design standards for commercial aviation industryGood written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills requiredAction oriented, results driven, high energy, self-starter, innovative with new approaches to design work, influential with peers and demonstrate critical thinking skills to drive to root cause
