Job Description
As a Project Manager within Fortune Brands, you will be responsible for leading and managing the execution of new product development and continuous improvement projects from ideation through commercialization. You will develop project plans to ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and within budget while meeting or exceeding cost and quality specifications. You will be the champion of the Stage-Gate process for your respective projects and responsible for managing the documentation requirements of the New Product Development process to ensure that the products, and the process of developing the products, are appropriately documented. The position requires extensive collaboration with all cross-functional groups involved in defining and developing products. This includes the marketing, product management, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, finance, legal, sales and other teams, as appropriate. The Project Manager will work on a range of project types that may include on platform, off platform, new NPD innovation. As the project manager, you will play a critical role in our success, leading cross functional teams to effectively deliver key new products to the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple end-to-end strategic projects across several product lines and channels
- Use the Fortune Brands Innovation (FBIN) enterprise Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) system to plan, track, and coordinate project activities
- Utilize FBIN’s Product Development Process, ensuring timely and accurate gate reviews and routine reports are conducted on assigned projects. Responsible for assuring process discipline within project teams.
- Develop, monitor, and control project schedules with proactive risk mitigation and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with advanced Concept team, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations Teams to focus on speed to market, platforming actions and the innovation process.
- Ensure project deliverables and tasks are appropriately resourced.
- Lead product development and supply chain activities from definition to production, focusing on speed to market, schedule, budget and product cost.
- Oversee and motivate all functional areas during development to meet key deliverables (Engineering, Marketing, Sourcing, Finance, Quality, Advanced Manufacturing, and Manufacturing).
- Monitor timing, quality, technical, and financial risk on assigned projects so that the correct risk mitigation strategy is developed. Be able to elevate and focus management attention when necessary
- Remain flexible to changing responsibilities, project prioritization, and workload adjustments
- Effectively manage change and communicate to stakeholders as needed.
- Interact with all levels of leadership (i.e. Managers, Directors, Vice-Presidents, President)
- Perform post launch audits on projects to ensure targets have been met and report gaps to planned business profitability
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field is required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a fast-paced New Product Development environment leading cross-functional teams utilizing project management methodologies and project execution best practices
- PMP certified, Agile experienced, and advanced MS Project skills are preferred
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Experienced at identifying needs, assigning roles and responsibilities, and leading cross-functional teams to meet project deliverables
- Familiarity with mechanical product development and manufacturing practices
- Demonstrated ability to apply discipline in the use of project management toolset (scope, schedules, budgets, reports, risk management, updates)
- Proven ability to engage and lead cross-functional teams, driving decisions to deliver the product requirements
- Demonstrated capital and expense budgeting for large scale projects and programs as well as experience with project financial measures and metrics
- Advanced communication, negotiation, conflict resolution capabilities
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 15% of the time (domestic and international)
