Junior Laboratory Analyst

21 hours per week, Wednesday - Friday, Thursday - Saturday, Friday - Sunday, rotational shift pattern, covering 06:00 until 14:00 and 10:00 until 18:00.

Purpose of the post

Support the water microbiology department

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols
• Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols
• Training and operation of relevant equipment
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
• Accurate Data entry into laboratory database
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Effective communication with all employees
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory

Qualifications

• A level in a science related subject (preferably Biology)
• GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
