Role Overview
As Head of Japan Jikgu Retail Business, you will lead the Japan Jikgu business with full ownership of strategy, execution, and P&L. You will continue to build and scale the Japan cross‑border retail business, delivering rapid growth while creating a differentiated and trusted customer experience.
This role requires operating with a strong set of leadership principles rather than a fixed job description. You will think big, move fast, and make high‑quality decisions in an ambiguous, high‑growth environment, working closely with global and local stakeholders to scale the business sustainably.
What You Will Do
- Own the full P&L for the Japan Jikgu retail business and drive aggressive YoY growth in GMV, revenue, and profitability
- Define and execute the Japan Jikgu strategy, including category expansion, assortment, pricing, and partner strategy whilst building out capacity through our supply chain and operations teams
- Lead and scale a multi‑category retail portfolio, ensuring strong customer value through selection, availability, and price competitiveness
- Build and develop high‑performing teams, setting a culture of ownership, analytical rigor, and customer obsession
- Partner cross‑functionally with global and local teams (supply chain, operations, finance, product, marketing) to deliver end‑to‑end execution
Basic Qualifications
- Fluent-level proficiency in Japanese
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred
- 10+ years of experience in e‑commerce, retail, marketplace, or platform businesses
- Proven P&L ownership with experience scaling a complex business end‑to‑end
- Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on execution and data‑driven decision making
- Experience leading and developing high‑performing, diverse teams as a people manager
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments
- Experience with international or cross‑border commerce strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Business‑level profieciency in English
- Experience driving rapid growth and results in a startup or scale‑up environment
- Strong sense of ownership with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, evolving organizations with changing business needs
- Experience working with large sales organizations and senior executive stakeholders
