Senior Irrigation Engineer

Job Purpose

HanmiGlobal is seeking a highly qualified Senior Irrigation Engineer to join our program management and PMCM team in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will deliver program-level irrigation engineering expertise and technical governance for a mega multi-work package land and infrastructure development program in Riyadh, delivered on behalf of a major government entity.

You will be providing program-level technical expertise, engineering assurance, and collaborative oversight for reviewing and monitoring all irrigation engineering designs and technical submissions across the program, ensuring all irrigation systems, treated sewage effluent (TSE) distribution networks, and water-efficient solutions are fully integrated and compliant with approved standards, sustainability objectives, and operational needs under the direction of the Technical Manager, while supporting the successful delivery of the overall development program.

Key Responsibilities

• Review irrigation engineering reports, hydraulic studies, drawings, and technical submissions prepared by Lead Developers and their consultants to verify compliance with approved design criteria, specifications, and Client’s requirements.
• Assess irrigation engineering solutions, distribution networks, TSE networks, pumping systems, and storage facilities for functionality, efficiency, maintainability, and lifecycle performance.
• Review irrigation strategies, water demand calculations, and water conservation measures to ensure efficient resource optimization and compliance with sustainability objectives.
• Support the implementation of program technical governance and engineering assurance processes across all development packages.
• Coordinate irrigation engineering reviews with the Technical Manager, Design Manager, and Program Technical Team to support multidisciplinary design integration and resolve technical interface challenges.
• Review irrigation engineering implications of design modifications and evaluate the technical acceptability of Value Engineering proposals submitted by Lead Developers.
• Provide irrigation engineering expertise during technical workshops, design reviews, and coordination meetings to resolve implementation issues and optimize systems.
• Coordinate with Lead Developers, consultants, utility providers, and environmental authorities regarding irrigation engineering matters and authority approvals.
• Prepare irrigation engineering review comments, technical assessments, reports, and executive summaries for the Technical Manager, PMCM Management, and the Client.
• Support the identification and mitigation of technical compliance risks while promoting engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Membership of a recognized Chartered Professional Institution relevant to the discipline or approved equivalent.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years of professional experience in irrigation engineering, landscape irrigation systems, water distribution networks, TSE systems, urban development, or major capital infrastructure projects.
• Experience within PMCM, PMC, consultancy, developer, contractor, or client-side organizations, preferably on large-scale infrastructure and land development projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region.
