Resident Engineer/Team Leader

Job Description

Sheladia Associates is seeking a professional Resident Engineer/Team Leader to join our team for a road project in the Caribbean region. 

Individual will support our Client for the Design Review and Construction Supervision Consultancy Services on a road improvement project to be administered per FIDIC.  Duties will include but not limited to;  

• Review and approve the designs and drawings submitted by the Contractors, supervise the works and approve the materials and workmanship as detailed in all contract documents for works.
• Examine the Contractor’s Construction Methodology and Traffic Management Plans of each work site to ensure that the Contractor’s effectively makes provisions to minimize the disruption to, and provide adequate safety mechanisms to enhance the road users during the construction activities
• Administer all the construction works contracts and ensure that the contractual provisions whether related to quality or quantities of work are duly implemented.
• Ensure that the technical policies are correctly and consistently implemented throughout the project road sections/stretches.
• Review the Contractor’s Procurement Plan and provide recommendations
• Provide overall supervision and management to Sheladia's field staff
• Produce monthly progress reports

Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
2. Professional Qualification Project Management or Construction Management, Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent
3. 20 years of general experience and  at least 15 years of experience in the sector
4. 10 years of experience in road construction supervision and design review projects
5. Demonstrated experience in construction and construction management of major roads and bridges / infrastructure projects.
6. Experience in civil works contract management and knowledge of contractual procedures, contract administration, disputes and claims management, knowledge of FIDIC guidelines and documents.
7. Experience pertaining to highway design and prior experience in design of similar highways projects.
8. Knowledge of international best practices and modern highway construction technology is essential.
9. Must have experience as a Team Leader in construction supervision and contract administration, quality control of roads, highways, and bridges projects in developed and/or developing countries funded by multilateral funding agencies.
10. Must have a proven record of having worked as Team Leader/Resident Engineer for construction supervision and management of major highway projects and should have exclusive experience in various types of FIDIC based contract with extensive project management experience.
11. Strong problem solving, communication and negotiation skills.
12. Must be fluent in both spoken and written English language.
