About the Role
We are seeking a technically strong and self-driven Functional Safety Engineer to develop, calibrate, validate, and optimize Safety functions for Diesel , Gasoline & EV powertrain systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, functional specifications, and customer expectations. The role includes software function calibration, HIL/LabCar validation, engine and vehicle testing, data analysis, and technical issue resolution.
You will work closely with OEM customers, independently own assigned projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive technical discussions, resolve engineering challenges, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality diagnostic solutions. Strong analytical skills, customer focus, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Handling and tracking calibration requirements.
Coordinates calibration requirements between customer project, calibration project , Function team
Analysis of validation and customer complaints across different region projects.
Creation and delivery to internal customers for validation and series versions
Offline calibration of the Monitoring software using Matlab/Simulink and internal Bosch tools
Preparation of the test cases for the meeting the ISO safety standards
Verification of the calibration by testing and validation
Data review for the variant projects with different regions
Supporting regions in execution and documentation of the vehicle tests.
Creation of the deliverable’s version and its documentation
Handling the queries from the region projects related to Monitoring software calibration
Active participation for the design review for functionality development in Monitoring software
Advises the function developer on questions regarding monitoring related software
Supports the CAL project manager for planning the resources
Provides support in the quotation in defining the efforts required for calibration.
What We’re Looking For
B.E, M.Tech (Mechanical, Automobile, E&C, EEE).
5 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
Experienced in technically leading / working on calibration development projects
Experience in calibrating torque-based control systems (gasoline and diesel) including emissions and climate development
Excellent knowledge of powertrain systems and sub-systems
Good knowledge of developing engine management systems and testing techniques
Ability to use model-based calibration tools e.g. Inca, Uniplot, Cameo, ASCMO, AVL Puma, etc.
Experienced user of analytical software tools to handle large volumes of data.
Ability to understand, interpret and evaluate numerical data
Knowledge of Modelling and Simulation techniques
Knowledge of coding/programming languages
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems
Sound understanding of engine combustion processes and emissions formulation
Knowledge and experience INCA and ETAS tools.
Skilled in statistical testing techniques i.e. Design of Experiments (DoE)
Complete work in a safe, timely and professional manner with the minimum of supervision Flexibility to undertake additional task to meet business requirements
Highly motivated, keen to learn and share knowledge. High attention to detail
Excellent communication skills.
Flexibility to travel as and when required.
Nice to Have
Calibration knowledge like Engine performance, drivability, vehicle performance
evaluation, Emission & OBD
Knowledge on control systems preferable
Knowledge on Sensors / Motronics
Qualifications
BE/Btech (E&C,E&E , Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automobile)
