About Grounded

Grounded is a 25-person Detroit-based startup building modular electric platforms for specialty vehicles. We take cab chassis from OEMs like Ford and Harbinger and build configurable vehicle systems on top, serving mobile healthcare, RVs, command centers, food and beverage, pet care, and more. Our customers include Colgate, Nokia, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, and Portland PD. We've raised ~$5M in VC funding and are shipping vehicles in market today.

We also build our own software: a mobile app, fleet dashboard, and onboard computer system that lets customers monitor and control vehicle systems remotely. We design, fabricate, and assemble everything in-house at our facility in Corktown.

About the Role

As a Senior Technician (Electrical), you will support the fabrication of prototype and production hardware, owning the electrical systems within our specialty vehicles. You will lead, oversee, and participate in all physical builds of low-voltage (12V/24V DC) and 120V AC systems — wiring harnesses, batteries, inverters and chargers, shore power, lighting, and onboard control systems — and help establish our production culture, processes, and standards.

  • Fabrication of prototype and production hardware using electrical expertise

  • Build, route, and terminate wiring harnesses for low-voltage (12V/24V DC) and 120V AC systems

  • Install and commission batteries, inverters, chargers, shore power, lighting, and control systems

  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and perform work to procedures and specifications

  • Perform hands-on operations with large and small, often fragile, assemblies

  • Operate a variety of electrical and mechanical tools independently, and troubleshoot/diagnose electrical faults

  • Collaborate with production engineers on activity development and documentation

  • Provide manufacturing feedback to engineering design

  • Lead and oversee physical builds of interior vehicle systems

  • Help establish production culture, processes, and standards

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • RVIA-compliant electrical knowledge

  • Hands-on experience with both low-voltage (12V/24V DC) and 120V AC systems

  • 10+ years professional experience with electrical work in construction, automotive, or hardware installation

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance

  • Strong time management, multitasking, and communication skills

  • Technical drawing, wiring diagram, and manual comprehension

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vehicle upfitting
