The Senior Accountant responsibilities will include, but not limited to, monthly analysis, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, recording journal entries and other tasks monthly for the North American business units. In addition, this role supports the Controller with financial statement reporting, cost report preparation, financial analysis, budget preparation and implementation, financial statement audit preparation and special projects as assigned.
The Senior Accountant will participate (from a financial perspective) in strategic initiatives and/or ad hoc projects. It requires the intensity, agility, and aptitude to successfully manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects to support a matrix of diverse customers. Because this individual will work with multiple levels of the organization, strong interpersonal skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Controller and Site Managers
- Compiling and reporting on business results on a monthly/weekly basis, with a focus on identifying the important issues that will impact financials
- Conduct Ad-hoc projects
- Conduct Month-end closing activities and other routine tasks
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Account reconciliation
- Variance analysis
- Participate in the annual external audit by analyzing and general ledger accounts, providing information for auditors, investigate account discrepancies and any issues of noncompliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 1-2 years of experience in Finance in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills to quickly grasp issues impacting the plant’s financial results
- Solid financial planning and analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills with strong commitment for delivering high quality output
- Advanced Excel and/or Access skills
- Broad technical accounting knowledge
- Strong systems aptitude to deliver effective reporting (paperless web-enabled environment), utilize BI tools and MS Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentations
- QAD business system Preferred
- Up to 15% travel required
