Senior Accountant - Energy Sector

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, international organisation operating in the European energy sector, headquartered in Paris with a footprint across Europe. The business is entering a new chapter of strategic transformation and is looking for a Senior Accountant who brings not just technical expertise, but a genuine continuous improvement mindset and the drive to help modernise a growing finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal postings
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes in collaboration with the controlling team
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and accurate booking of accruals, provisions, and intercompany transactions
- Monitor and reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts
Invoicing and Billing
- Prepare and issue customer invoices in coordination with operational and commercial teams
- Monitor billing schedules in line with contractual terms and reconcile billing data with accounting records
- Support the implementation and improvement of automated billing processes in SAP Business One
- Handle customer invoice queries and coordinate with internal stakeholders for resolution
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and internal accounting policies
- Maintain thorough accounting documentation and support both internal and external audit processes
- Prepare tax filings, VAT declarations, and other regulatory submissions in coordination with tax advisors
Process Improvement and Systems
- Identify, document, and implement improvements to accounting workflows to strengthen internal controls and reporting
- Support SAP Business One integration and leverage technology to automate routine tasks
- Champion a learning-oriented, continuous improvement culture within the team
Collaboration and Leadership
- Liaise with Financial Controlling to ensure consistency between accounting entries and financial reporting
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Risk, Operations, and IT
- Support the CFO and senior leadership with ad hoc analysis and reporting
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Proven experience managing month-end and year-end close processes
- Advanced Excel skills with a clear automation mindset
- Comfort working with ERP systems and digital finance tools
- Fluent English (written and spoken) - this is a non-negotiable requirement
- A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead change, not just follow process
Preferred Qualifications
- Accounting certification such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CFA
- Experience with SAP Business One
- French or German language skills
- Background in Big 4, financial markets, FinTech, or a consulting environment
- Multicultural or international working experience
- Experience in a fast-moving or transforming organisation
Benefits
Base Salary: €60,000 to €67,000 gross per annum, dependent on experience
Additional benefits apply, including performance bonus, health insurance contribution, and generous annual leave entitlement
Work arrangement: Hybrid - up to 3 days working from home per week following your onboarding period

Principales responsabilités
Opérations comptables
- Gérer les opérations comptables quotidiennes, les écritures de grand livre et les rapprochements.
- Participer aux clôtures mensuelles et annuelles.
- Superviser les comptes fournisseurs, clients, les immobilisations et les transactions intercos.
- Effectuer les rapprochements bancaires et le suivi des comptes financiers.
Facturation
- Préparer et émettre les factures clients.
- Assurer le suivi des échéanciers de facturation.
- Rapprocher les données de facturation avec la comptabilité.
- Contribuer à l'amélioration des processus de facturation dans SAP Business One.
- Répondre aux demandes liées à la facturation.
Conformité et audit
- Assurer la conformité aux normes IFRS, aux réglementations locales et aux politiques internes.
- Préparer la documentation comptable et soutenir les audits.
- Participer aux déclarations fiscales et de TVA.
Amélioration des processus et systèmes
- Identifier et mettre en oeuvre des améliorations des processus comptables.
- Soutenir l'intégration de SAP Business One et l'automatisation.
- Promouvoir une culture d'amélioration continue.
Collaboration et leadership
- Collaborer avec le contrôle de gestion et les équipes transverses.
- Encadrer les membres juniors de l'équipe.
- Soutenir le CFO sur les analyses financières et les reportings ponctuels.
Profil requis
- Formation Bac+3 minimum en Finance, Comptabilité, Économie ou domaine connexe
- Minimum 5 ans d'expérience en comptabilité ou en finance
- Solide maîtrise des normes comptables GAAP et IFRS
- Expérience avérée dans les clôtures mensuelles et annuelles
- Maîtrise avancée d'Excel avec une orientation forte vers l'automatisation
- Aisance avec les ERP et outils numériques de finance
- Anglais courant (écrit et oral) - obligatoire
- Esprit proactif, orienté amélioration continue, avec une capacité à piloter le changement
Profil apprécié
- Certification comptable : CPA, CMA, ACCA ou CFA
- Expérience avec SAP Business One
- Français ou allemand souhaité
- Parcours en Big 4, marchés financiers, FinTech ou conseil
- Expérience internationale ou multiculturelle
- Expérience dans un environnement en transformation
Package
Salaire de base : 60 000 € à 67 000 € brut annuel, selon profil
