Want to break into digital for political campaigns and advocacy groups? Get your start with us. Middle Seat is a digital consulting firm that works with campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and causes on the front lines of reproductive justice, racial justice, climate action, immigration rights, and economic justice.

We’re looking for a creative self-starter to support our Texting team as a paid intern for FALL 2026 (August 31 – November 20, 2026).

What does the role involve?

As a texting intern at Middle Seat, you’ll learn the ins and outs of mobile fundraising and donor engagement. You’ll work closely with our texting team to draft fundraising copy, build and QA text campaigns, maintain reporting databases, analyze performance data, pitch creative ideas, and assist with administrative tasks and other responsibilities.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience with high-profile progressive campaigns and non-profit organizations while learning how texting programs are built, tested, and optimized to balance donor relationships and fundraising.

This role is available either in person at our Washington, D.C office or remotely. This role is not part of the bargaining unit.

Requirements

This role is for you if:

  • You’re excited to work with progressive clients doing impactful work
  • You’re a strong writer with great grammar and self-proofreading skills
  • You enjoy the idea of testing creative messaging and analyzing performance
  • You’re detail-oriented and organized
  • You’re technically adept and pick up new tools easily
  • You follow politics and stay up to date with the news
  • You’re a senior, in your final year of an undergraduate program, or a recent graduate

It would be nice if you:

  • Have experience with digital fundraising or political communications
  • Have worked on a political campaign, advocacy organization, or nonprofit
  • Have experience with spreadsheets, reporting, or data tracking
  • Have familiarity with texting or CRM tools
  • Are a fantastic writer with a strong creative voice

And it’s essential that you:

  • Are committed to working for progressive political candidates and causes
  • Are a team player
  • Have a solid understanding of the U.S. political system and key progressive issues
  • Can commit to full-time (40-hour work week) or near full-time availability
  • Are based in the United States

Benefits

We offer a salary of $23 per hour.

We are committed to building a diverse and passionate team. We encourage creative-minded individuals with a strong technical aptitude to apply for this position. Women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals are encouraged to apply.

Our firm is values-driven. We are intentional with the decidedly left-of-center clients we work with — and we strive to make our work environment and benefits reflect that, including salary transparency, healthy work-life balance, and consistent employee feedback and communication. We’re happy to talk more about our company culture with prospective applicants.
