OfficeAbingdon, UKSE70k - 90k GBP

Would you like to be instrumental in enabling the next generation of semi-conductors?

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager C# to lead our talented engineering team as we scale our cutting-edge metrology products. This is a pivotal role where you’ll combine hands-on technical leadership with people management, shaping the software strategy and driving delivery across a growing cross-functional organisation. If you thrive at the intersection of deep C# expertise, collaborative engineering culture, and real-world impact, this one’s for you.

Reward and Benefits:

  • £70,000 - £90,000 (depending on experience)
  • 25 days annual leave, death in service and private health care benefits, personal pension contributions of 4% with salary sacrifice and a generous EMI Share scheme

Based in Abingdon, Oxford, UK, we are a high calibre team of 100 plus people and we are growing fast. We are backed by global financial and industry investors including Applied Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the industry leading equipment company.

About the role:

A typical day for a Software Engineering Manager C# could look like this:

  • Leading sprint planning, estimation, and tracking for the C# team, keeping delivery realistic, visible, and aligned to the customer release process
  • Coaching and developing team members: running 1:1s, appraisals, and supporting career growth in an inclusive environment
  • Collaborating with architects, LabVIEW, Data Analysis, and Systems teams to manage cross-functional dependencies and unblock delivery
  • Engaging stakeholders across programme and applications teams, communicating delivery status clearly and supporting customer-facing readiness decisions
  • Reviewing code and reinforcing design patterns, MVVM architecture, and C# .NET best practice to keep quality high as the team scales
  • Contributing hands-on technically when capacity allows, staying close to the codebase and influencing architectural decisions

Who we are looking for:

To succeed as a Software Engineering Manager C#, we do need you to bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ hands-on C# software development industry experience
  • People management or team leadership, including appraisals, career development, and recruitment
  • Strong C# .NET architecture knowledge, including design patterns, MVVM, and threading models
  • UI development with WPF or equivalent technologies
  • Owning and communicating phased delivery plans: milestones, assumptions, dependencies, and confidence levels
  • Agile or lean delivery in a multi-disciplinary sprint-based environment
  • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Working with requirement traceability, design reviews, and Jira (or equivalent) from concept through to delivery

Nice to have:

  • Managing software delivery in a cross-functional environment with hardware dependencies
  • LabVIEW integration or data streaming interfaces between LabVIEW and C# teams
  • Low-level communication protocols such as TCP sockets
  • Additional programming languages such as Python
  • Systems engineering understanding — able to engage with architects on interface definitions and safety requirements
  • Working with external partners as part of overall software delivery
  • Programme-level planning tools, project management, or Jira administration
  • Regulated or precision instrumentation environment background

We look for the five Cs from our colleagues:

  • Customer Focused – Staying close to customer needs and consistently delivering value that builds trust.
  • Caring – Creating a supportive environment where people look out for each other and can thrive.
  • Collaborative – Sharing ideas openly, communicating clearly, and working together to solve problems.
  • Commitment – Taking ownership, following through on promises, and acting with integrity.
  • Continuous Improvement – Always learning, challenging the status quo, and improving how we work and deliver.

Infinitesima was spun out of the University of Bristol in 2001 and has been developing innovative metrology solutions which improve speed and precision in the manufacture of semiconductors. The company’s technology combines the 3-dimensional surface detection capability of atomic force microscopy (AFM), with high-speed laser activation and the accuracy of interferometry. The Rapid Probe Microscope (RPM™) is protected by an extensive patent portfolio. The company’s RPM™ technology is being used by leading semiconductor equipment companies globally. Semiconductor devices provide the foundations on which progress in the technology sector are enabled. From Smartphones to Artificial Intelligence, 5G communications to autonomous vehicles, all are made possible through advances in semiconductor processes. Scaling these processes requires sub-nanometer measurement of increasingly complex 3D structures to enable more powerful devices. Based in Abingdon, UK, we are a high calibre team of 80 people and continue to grow. We are backed by global financial and industry investors including Applied Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the industry leading equipment company.
