Job Description

Strategic Counsel and Thought Leadership

  • Serve as the trusted advisor to Intuitive Korea leadership on external trends, policy directions, and stakeholder expectations, translating insights into forward-looking strategies.

  • Position Intuitive as the leading voice in surgical robotics by shaping narratives on the future of surgery, value of robotic-assisted surgery, and healthcare innovation.

  • Lead the development of insight-driven public affairs strategies that go beyond adaptation, actively shaping the policy environment to support business development objectives.   

  • Identify and develop strategic platforms, including forums, partnerships, and coalitions, to reinforce Intuitive’s leadership in Korea’s healthcare transformation and its leadership position in robotic-assisted surgery.

  • Partner cross-functionally (Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Legal and more) to ensure integrated strategies that align policy, evidence, and market access objectives.

Policy Leadership & Government Engagement

  • Develop and execute proactive policy shaping strategies with agenda-setting leadership in Korea’s healthcare system.

  • Shape and communicate evidence-based policy narratives that demonstrate the clinical, economic, and societal value of robotic-assisted surgery.

  • Support senior leadership in high-level engagements with policymakers, regulators, and industry associations through identifying the most impactful platforms, developing strategic narrative development and briefing materials.

  • Collaborate closely with Market Access, Commercial and cross-functional teams to drive engagement with key government institutions to influence:

    • Reimbursement frameworks

    • Regulatory pathways

    • Innovation adoption policies

  • Build and sustain high-trust, long-term relationships with policymakers and industry bodies, positioning Intuitive as the first point of reference for insights and perspectives on the robotic-assisted surgery ecosystem.

Corporate Communications & Issues Management

  • Develop and execute integrated communications strategies to elevate Intuitive’s corporate reputation and thought leadership in Korea.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier media, healthcare journalists, and industry influencers.

  • Localize Intuitive’s global and regional narratives into culturally relevant messaging that resonates with Korean stakeholders, including policymakers, industry influencers and the general public through high-impact media engagement and activities. 

  • Lead proactive and reactive communications, including issues management, spokesperson preparation, and media training.

Patient Advocacy Engagement

  • Design patient-centric initiatives that elevate awareness of disease areas and the benefits of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted care.

  • Build partnerships with patient groups, clinical societies, and advocacy organizations to strengthen the broader robotic-assisted surgery ecosystem.

  • Position Intuitive as a trusted partner in improving patient outcomes and access to advanced care.

Social Impact & Corporate Citizenship

  • Lead the development of high-impact social responsibility initiatives aligned with Korea’s societal priorities and Intuitive social impact strategy. 

  • Integrate social impact into reputation-building and stakeholder engagement strategies.

  • Foster internal engagement by connecting employees to purpose-driven activities that reinforce Intuitive’s mission.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in public affairs, government affairs, or strategic communications within healthcare, medtech, pharmaceuticals, technology or other regulated industries.

  • Strong understanding of Korea’s healthcare system, including reimbursement processes, regulatory pathways, and stakeholder landscape.

  • Proven experience engaging with key government bodies such as MOHW, HIRA, and NHIS.

  • Excellent communication skills in both Korean and English, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Public Policy, Communications, Business, or related fields preferred

  • External influencer and ecosystem builder, capable of shaping agendas without direct authority.

  • Deep cultural fluency in Korea’s policy, business, and societal context.

  • Results-oriented, with the ability to define, measure, and communicate impact beyond activities, focusing on outcomes and impact.
