Job Description
Sika is looking for an experienced Lead Machine Operator to join its growing team in the Canton, MA area for our roofing business.
The Lead Operator is responsible for ensuring successful operation of the M48 spreadcoating line. Their primary function will be to lead a crew of operators, while ensuring the machine is running safely and properly.
Lead Operator will work M, T, W and Thursday 6pm to 6am.
- Oversee startup, shutdown, and operation of key pieces of equipment
- Operation of equipment through PLC driven HMI interface
- Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with the team
- Basic troubleshooting of equipment and knowledge of how to handle specific situations/issues
- Communicate issues and concerns to both maintenance and management. Issue corresponding work orders into the Fiix CMMS
- Document lot numbers of all materials used in production
- Identify hazards and anomalies in the process and communicate them to the appropriate parties
- Routinely gather finished material samples and test them for thickness/weight according to ASTM testing protocols
- Keep a repository of test data, machine data, start-stop times, and reasons for shutting down
- Maintain a positive relationship with both Maintenance and Quality Assurance and seek them out when needed
- Coordinate product/recipe changes with the production team and shuttle drivers. Ensure that raw materials required for the next day of production are staged accordingly at shift end
- Daily attendance at a pre-shift starter meeting is required
- Facilitate production based on schedule
- Engagement in SikaSafe safety program required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing/operations
- Some experience leading a crew of people is desired
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Understanding of touchscreen PLC production line interfaces
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
