The Global Finance Shared Service Center supports the core business with finance related matters, covering a wide scope of activities across the globe. We ensure suppliers and artists are paid on time for the amazing work they create. We work closely with the local finance teams around the world which means we have an excellent understanding of how the company operates and are kept up to date with key developments in this exciting and fast paced industry. Our teams play a key role in ensuring Sony Music achieve their annual goals each year.
As Assistant Manager – IRL/DQC (IRL (International Repertoire Licensing) and DQC (Data Quality Check)), you will play a central role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of royalty reporting across Sony Music’s global affiliate and licensee network. You will work at the intersection of contractual compliance, data quality, and process excellence — directly contributing to the financial integrity of GFSS operations. This is a high-visibility role offering strong exposure to cross-functional collaboration, systems, people development, and strategic process improvement.
What you'll do:
- Receive, review, audit, and analyze royalty reports submitted by worldwide Sony Music Entertainment affiliates and licensees, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and agreements.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve inaccuracies and/or discrepancies between reporting received and data stored within Sony Music’s worldwide databases.
- Manage sales inquiries raised by local affiliates, root-causing requests to mitigate future issues and continuously improve reporting quality.
Onboarding & Special Projects
- Provide support to various affiliates in capturing new IRL deals systematically within established frameworks, ensuring accurate and timely onboarding.
- Support local teams in the systematic capture of new mergers and acquisitions, ensuring data integrity and seamless integration into Sony Music’s databases.
Process Improvement & Design
- Design and implement strategies to improve reporting accuracy across the IRL/DQC function.
- Proactively identify strategic opportunities and address them in a cross-functional manner.
- Maintain ongoing interaction with manager regarding royalty reporting concerns, discrepancies, and escalations.
Who you are:
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in royalty operations, music licensing, finance shared services, or a related field; prior people management experience is essential.
- Strong analytical and audit skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve data quality issues across large, complex datasets.
- Familiarity with royalty reporting systems and ERP platforms (SAP preferred); exposure to royalty or licensing agreement structures is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to coordinate effectively with global affiliates and senior stakeholders.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, comfortable leading independently in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment with shifting priorities.
- A natural process improver — someone who doesn’t just manage existing workflows but actively looks for ways to make them better.
- Willingness to work in UK-aligned hours; hybrid work model with approximately 2 office days per month from the Mumbai office.
