Job Description
Our Doncaster site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Coordinator to join their friendly team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Salary: £29,555 per annum
Working hours: Working on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off days, 6:00-18:00
As a Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for effectively planning driver and vehicle resources to meet delivery and collection schedules, while optimising efficiency and ensuring full compliance with WTD regulations and driver hours legislation.
Key Duties of a Transport Coordinator:
- Conducting pre-briefs and debriefs for all drivers
- Managing equipment through sign-in/out procedures, ensuring legal compliance
- Planning and coordinating driver and vehicle resources, updating transport plans as required
- Acting as a key communication link between Customer Services, the planning team, and other depots
- Identifying efficient solutions for customer collections and providing accurate schedules to support KPI achievement
- Communicating any potential service failures or deviations from plan in a timely manner
- Managing yard checks, ensuring records are completed and information is accurately reported
- Overseeing daily agency labour requirements
- Ensuring all accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported and logged in line with procedures
- Supporting driver scheduling, including meetings, training, and compliance activities
- Monitoring vehicle and trailer service schedules and carrying out regular census checks
Qualifications
- Attention to detail/accuracy
- Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages
- Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
- Able to work as part of a team or individually
- Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
- Significant transport experience in FMCG environment
- Customer service driven
