The Opportunity
Versant is seeking an experienced Operations Technical Manager to help shape the future of our production and technical operations ecosystem. This role serves as a critical connector between Production, Engineering, and Technical Operations, ensuring seamless execution of live, studio, streaming, and remote productions across multiple platforms.
The Operations Technical Manager combines deep technical expertise with operational leadership to support high-profile productions, optimize workflows, implement emerging technologies, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This individual will partner closely with production leadership, engineering teams, technical operators, and external vendors to ensure reliability, scalability, and innovation throughout the production lifecycle.

Work Environment
This position is based in Los Angeles, California and requires regular onsite presence to support studio operations, control room activities, production planning, and live event execution.
What You'll Do
- Act as the primary liaison between Production, Engineering, and Technical Operations teams, ensuring alignment, communication, and successful execution across all phases of production.
- Lead technical planning, operational readiness, transmission coordination, and production support for live, studio, remote (REMI), and streaming productions.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on support across control room, studio, transmission, and digital production environments.
- Partner with engineering teams to support system enhancements, infrastructure initiatives, workflow modernization efforts, and implementation of emerging technologies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, increase reliability, reduce operational complexity, and optimize production costs.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and operational expertise across routing, intercom, audio, video, replay, graphics, transmission, streaming, and production systems.
- Support cloud-based, hybrid, and remote production workflows while helping scale future-ready production capabilities.
- Manage technical vendors, budgets, production resources, documentation, and operational planning activities.
- Support production leadership and directing teams during live and recorded productions, helping ensure flawless technical execution.
Qualifications
What You Bring
Required Experience & Expertise
- 10+ years of experience in broadcast operations, streaming media, engineering, technical production, or related environments.
- Proven success supporting complex live productions across broadcast, streaming, studio, and remote production environments.
- Strong knowledge of production systems, engineering infrastructure, transmission workflows, and technical operations.
- Experience supporting REMI, cloud-based, and hybrid production models.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge technical and operational teams while driving collaboration and execution.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Experience managing competing priorities, vendors, budgets, and production resources in fast-paced environments.

- Spyder video processing systems
- Sony broadcast and cine-style camera systems
- Elemental encoding and streaming technologies
- Avid NEXIS, Media Composer, and MediaCentral environments
- Adobe Premiere Pro and related post-production workflows
