Structural Steel CNC Equipment Operator
Location: Cocoa Beach, Florida
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Starting at $24.00/hour (higher pay available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel CNC Equipment Operator to join a growing fabrication team. This role is ideal for individuals with experience operating CNC processing equipment used in structural steel manufacturing and who take pride in producing accurate, high-quality parts in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with heavy materials and precision equipment.
### Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment for structural steel processing
Adjust machine settings to achieve accurate and efficient production
Verify material dimensions and specifications before processing
Select the appropriate material type, stock size, and tooling for each job
Mark and identify parts according to production requirements
Maintain accurate production and material usage records
Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues
Operate overhead cranes and material handling systems safely
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
### Required Qualifications
Experience operating CNC plasma tables or CNC sawing, drilling, or cutting equipment
Familiarity with industrial fabrication or structural steel manufacturing processes
Ability to read a tape measure accurately to within 1/16 inch
Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations
Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material transfer systems
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in both hot and cold industrial environments
### Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating equipment such as Kinetic Plasma tables, Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Lines, Peddinghaus Angle Masters, Ficep Beamlines, or similar CNC fabrication systems
Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, symbols, and production notes
Experience with Tekla PowerFab or comparable fabrication management software
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
