To support this mission, Syngenta’s is seeking a Environmental Specialist LATAM in Buenos Aires; Argentina, Bogotá Colombia or Ciudad de Mexico; Mexico. This role will acts as the regional focal point for environmental governance, remediation, third-party audits, and enterprise risk & resilience processes, supporting HSE Managers and site teams while actively contributing to the Global Environment Centre of Expertise.

Accountabilities 

  • Environmental Compliance & Advisory — Provide expert guidance to HSE Managers and site teams on environmental management system requirements, regulatory compliance, emissions monitoring, waste management, and annual reporting across the LATAM region.
  • Remediation & Environmental Liabilities — Lead and support environmental remediation projects and management of environmental liabilities, coordinating internal and external resources in line with Syngenta's Environmental Provisions process.
  • Audits & Assessments — Plan and conduct Syngenta and third-party supplier HSE audits across LATAM sites (primarily Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico), ensuring consistency with global audit standards and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Incident Investigations & Reporting — Validate environmental event reporting, lead and support incident investigations to identify root causes, define corrective actions, and drive performance improvement across the region.
  • Risk & Resilience Champion — Facilitate regional enterprise risk management processes for Production & Supply, build the champions network, and strengthen risk culture and capabilities across LATAM in coordination with the global R&R community.

Qualifications

Required  

  • Education — Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • Experience — 7+ years in environmental management and/or environmental remediation, ideally in chemical manufacturing, agrochemical, or environmental consulting industries.
  • Technical knowledge — Demonstrated expertise in environmental management systems, remediation processes, regulatory compliance, and environmental auditing.
  • Languages — Advanced English (mandatory).
  • Work style — Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities without close supervision, and influence stakeholders across a matrix organization.

Desired 

  • M&A experience — Familiarity with HSE due diligence processes in acquisition or divestment transactions.
  • Digital tools — Experience with digital platforms for environmental performance tracking and data reporting.
