Job Role: AI Business Transformation Specialist
Compensation range: $1,500 - $2,000 AUD/month
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: a well-established business group based in East Timor with over 24 years of operating history. The company employs approximately 200 team members and operates across retail, hospitality, and distribution, with distribution representing the majority of its revenue.
As the organization continues to grow, they are investing in AI and automation to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer engagement, and drive measurable business outcomes. This is an opportunity to build an AI and automation function from the ground up and create a lasting impact across multiple business units.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced AI Automation Specialist to lead the development and implementation of AI-powered systems, workflows, and automation initiatives across the organization.
This is a highly autonomous role suited for someone who can identify opportunities, design solutions, and execute projects independently. You will work closely with leadership to streamline operations, improve decision-making, increase revenue opportunities, and reduce inefficiencies through practical AI and automation solutions.
Success in this role will be measured not only by operational efficiencies but also by tangible business outcomes such as revenue growth, customer retention, improved inventory management, and reduced operational costs.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Strategy & Implementation
- Assess existing business processes and identify automation opportunities across retail, hospitality, and distribution operations
- Develop and execute an AI and automation roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Introduce scalable AI solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and customer experience
- Establish governance, documentation, and best practices for AI adoption across the organization
Workflow Automation & Process Optimization
- Design, build, and maintain automated workflows using modern automation platforms
- Eliminate repetitive manual tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Integrate business systems and data sources to streamline workflows
- Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automation performance
AI Systems Development
- Build AI-powered tools, assistants, and workflows that support business operations
- Leverage platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI technologies to improve business processes
- Develop knowledge management systems and AI-enabled internal resources
- Create reporting and monitoring systems that provide actionable business insights
Business Intelligence & Analytics
- Build dashboards and reporting frameworks that track automation performance and business impact
- Analyze operational and commercial data to identify improvement opportunities
- Measure ROI and effectiveness of AI initiatives
- Present recommendations and findings to leadership teams
Revenue & Commercial Impact
- Implement automation initiatives that improve customer engagement and re-engagement
- Develop solutions that reduce stockouts and minimize lost sales opportunities
- Improve forecasting, inventory visibility, and operational planning
- Support initiatives that generate or protect revenue through smarter processes and automation
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with executives and department leaders to understand business challenges
- Translate business requirements into practical AI and automation solutions
- Train and support teams on newly implemented systems and processes
- Promote adoption and continuous improvement of AI capabilities across the organization
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in AI, automation, systems implementation, business process improvement, or related fields
- Formal qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience working within established companies and structured business environments
- Proven experience building automation solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, large language models, and automation platforms
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, Power Automate, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and build systems from the ground up
- Experience working remotely with international teams
