About Arthur
At Arthur, we are deeply passionate about building technology that makes AI work for everyone. Our AI performance and governance platform is deployed at some of the largest companies in the world, ensuring that millions of people are served by AI that is accurate and helpful.
This position is a rare (and fun!) opportunity to help shape the future of AI and its real-world impact. We are an equal opportunity employer and believe strongly in front-end ethics: building a company and industry where strong performance and a positive human impact are inextricably linked.
About the role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work shoulder-to-shoulder with our customers, building the solutions that make their AI systems actually work. You'll sit on a customer's team and own outcomes end-to-end, things like: Wiring their applications into Arthur's telemetry and evaluation systems, building custom UI components and dashboards, writing the queries and integrations that expose evals and guardrails to their users, etc. Just as importantly, you'll serve as a feedback loop back into product, where the patterns you discover building bespoke solutions become the primitives and features that ship to everyone. This is a high-agency, pre-product-market-fit role where you'll validate product hypotheses by building real things for real customers.
The ideal candidate is a versatile, customer-facing builder who thrives on ambiguity and context-switching. You're equally comfortable diving into a customer's codebase as you are sitting in a working session understanding their problem, and you measure your success by whether people use what you build and get value from it, not by owning a single tidy technical domain. You bring genuine startup energy: you'll wear many hats, make bets, change bets, and take real ownership of the company's success.
What you'll do
Embed with customers to build solutions on top of Arthur, integrating their agents and applications into our telemetry and evaluation systems, and building custom UI components, dashboards, and integrations that surface evals and guardrails to their users.
Perform as the customer-facing AI-expert, influencing the architecture and technology of the AI agents our customers build, educating them on best practices, emerging standards, and implementation details, as well as overall strategy and execution of their AI initiatives
Serve as the technical point of contact on your accounts: answer questions, write SQL queries, build dashboards, and solve problems that make customers' agents more reliable.
Validate product hypotheses by building bespoke solutions for customers, identifying the primitives and integration points that can graduate into Arthur's core product.
Operate within complex, regulated enterprise environments, working with a variety of customer stakeholders in different parts of the organization (developers, product managers, security engineers, GRC analysts, etc.)
Close the loop with product and engineering, turning patterns you see across customers into reusable features and primitives.
What we're looking for
Strong full-stack engineering ability, with comfort building across the infrastructure layer, backend services and customer-facing UI components.
A customer-facing builder's mindset: you like being embedded on a team, solving an actual problem, and shipping things people use and get value from.
Comfort with ambiguity, context-switching, and the pre-product-market-fit reality of making bets and changing them - true startup energy and ownership.
Fluency with modern AI tooling and a "move beyond vibes" mentality: you build things that actually work, not just things that demo well.
Strong communication skills and the judgment to operate independently on a customer's team while feeding insights back to the broader org.
You might also have (nice to have)
Prior forward-deployed, solutions-engineering, consulting, or embedded-engineering experience where you reported back into a central team.
Experience as a founding or early engineer at a startup.
Familiarity with AI/ML observability, evaluation, monitoring, tracing, or guardrails.
Experience building agents or LLM-powered applications, including test/eval harnesses and experiment workflows.
Background working with enterprise customers in regulated environments, including on-prem or data-governance-sensitive deployments.
Our target base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $220,000, based on your experience and how your skills align with role requirements.
