The Problem Solving Manager is responsible for leading and deploying the Problem Solving Strategy across the plant, ensuring the systematic resolution of complex, repetitive, and systemic issues related to quality, manufacturing, testing, and special processes. This position leads a team of technical specialists focused on stabilizing processes, eliminating root causes, preventing recurrence, and improving operational performance through structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis.
The role acts as a technical and strategic reference for cross-functional teams, supporting Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other plant functions in the resolution of critical production and quality issues. The position also promotes a data-driven culture, using process data, visualization tools, and analytical methods to identify trends, risks, improvement opportunities, and preventive actions.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, deploy, and continuously improve the plant Problem Solving Strategy in alignment with business priorities, quality objectives, customer requirements, and operational indicators.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team of technical specialists, ensuring capability building, performance follow-up, workload management, and professional development.
- Drive the resolution of complex and systemic manufacturing, quality, functional testing, and special process issues through structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Provide expert support to Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Functions, Quality, Production, and other areas during major technical issues in series production.
- Ensure effective containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, lessons learned, and recurrence prevention for critical problems.
- Perform assessments of current and new processes related to special processes, ensuring conformity with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable quality management systems.
- Identify, propose, and implement improvements to special processes, ensuring standardization and communication with lead plants or other locations when applicable.
- Coach and train technical teams in problem-solving methodologies, statistical thinking, data analysis, root cause analysis, and preventive quality practices.
- Participate in IPN activities and new technology deployment, supporting the definition, implementation, and stabilization of new manufacturing technologies.
- Use data analysis, visualization, and business intelligence tools to identify trends, patterns, correlations, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate cross-functional problem-solving activities with stakeholders from Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, and Management.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions to ensure sustainable implementation and measurable impact on quality, cost, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable requirements related to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, BBM Processes, and internal standards.
Requisitos
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced English level.
- Proven experience leading technical teams in manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, testing, or special processes.
- Experience in the automotive industry.
- Experience leading complex problem-solving projects in series production environments.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management System ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Six Sigma certification, Shainin, Kepner-Tregoe, or advanced problem-solving certification is desirable.
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced problem-solving methodologies: 8D, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, Red X, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
- Statistical methods, hypothesis testing, variation analysis, capability studies, and data-based decision-making.
- Manufacturing processes, functional testing, process stabilization, and special process conformity.
- Quality Management Systems, customer-specific requirements, audit readiness, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and internal process standards.
- Data analysis and visualization tools.
